| This recording of Ukrainian Chant features the male singers of the reknowned Kyiv Chamber Choir. Ukrainian chant in the form of monody represents a tradition that reaches us from centuries past (X-XVI centuries).
Monody is singing in one melodic line. In this singing there is no lush polyphony, no spectacular harmonic sequences or dizzying virtuosic solos, no high notes or spatial or dynamic efforts.
Everything here is focused on the austere, directed not at external impressions, but at attaining a deep comprehension of essence. The sound of this recording is unique and remarkable.
